An End and A Beginning

To move, to breathe, to fly, to float,
to gain all while you give,
to roam the roads of lands remote,
to travel is to live.

— Hans Christian Anderson.

My name is April. I’m a Graphic Designer on hiatus. Currently, I’m about to begin a new journey to New Zealand to be an Au Pair for about a year. It’s been a strange year of transition and will be an even more unique season of change ahead. My prayers this year have been focused on what could be next. I’ve dreamed and asked the Lord about my desire to know and see new places, to meet new people, to understand the world just a little bit better. I had developed a contentment in the place that Jesus had placed me in Arkansas, but circumstances lead to an ending and I began to search for a new beginning.

But before all that, about a year ago, my friend, Bethany (the brunette seen in the picture to the right), and I sat down over margheritas and started talking about the “What’s next”. While talking we realized that we both were on the same page. As much as we loved the little town of Fayetteville we both wanted to move to a new country. The timing was perfect for that kind of transition for both of us. So, we both began planning and praying and spent a full year trying to hear from the Lord. Here we are a year later and our dreams have come true. Our paths are splitting and we’re heading to two very different countries. Bethany to England to study and I to New Zealand and then Australia to be a nanny.

Thus, the name of our blog is Country (England) and Commonwealth (Australia/New Zealand). We’re taking on the English-speaking world between the two of us and some of our other friends, who may jump in to contribute every now and again. Who knows, though, where we may be lead. We’ve decided to record our journeys, both as a way keep in touch and as a way to document the adventures we’ve been given the opportunity to venture into. Please feel free to follow along on the records of these journeys. My prayer is that our endeavors glorify the One who has opened up these paths for us and that we may praise His name all the more boldly because of them. May the thoughts recorded on this blog lift high the One who inspires them.
